We do not know what's best for others. We only know what's best for us!
Do you know what you need?" . . . "Do you know what you should do." . . .
These are what I call 'God Almighty' statements. In other words, only the all-knowing, all-powerful, sovereign God of the universe can know what I need and what I should do, and He can communicate that to me as I seek Him and His will for my life. When we start deciding what others 'need' or what others 'should' do, we are taking on a role that is not ours to perform.
Giving unasked for advice (veiled criticism), making decisions for others, mapping out their strategy, is not our job. Nor is it their job to direct us. Even in a sponsorship relationship - we cannot trust that others always know what is best for us. We can listen to the information given to us ask for guidance and direction, but then it is our responsibility to sift and sort through that information and ask God to make His will known to us.
We give ourselves and others the gift of trusting the Holy Spirit that resides in each of us who have that personal relationship with God through faith in Christ as Saviour and Lord. Each of us have our own source of guidance and wisdom and the ability to discern what is best for us and the right to find that path by making mistakes and learning.
God, help me remember that we are each given the gift of being able to discover what is best for ourselves. Help me trust You for guidance today, not only for myself but that You will guide others as well as they seek You. Amen
