One of the most common problems articulated in therapy is a feeling of being isolated, alone, or cut off from others. That was how I experienced life in my early years and up until I was in my mid 20s. I felt SO alone while living in a family of 11 people as a child! I didn't feel safe to put myself 'out there' so I just kept my head down and tried not to attract attention to myself. And even though, when I married, I had a loving husband, I was still locked up inside, unable to give and receive love. BUT that is what led me to find the One who 'never leaves me or forsakes me'...............Christ Himself. He truly is my best and constant friend.........my Abba (Daddy) Father and my God!
One of the ways that I began to experience God's love and acceptance was through loving people in my life..........like my husband Alex. I see those dear friends now in my mind's eye............smiling, welcoming, laughing with me (not at me)! As they loved me, I began to experience God's love for me and I didn't feel as lonely anymore.
Aloneness leads to loneliness. God wants us to be in spiritual supportive families. In Northern California grow the majestic, tall redwood trees. The redwood tree has a very shallow root system. How do these trees withstand the strong winds that would blow them over? They grow in groves and the roots of one tree branch out and intertwine with the roots of another tree. Together they stand. Seldom do you ever see a large redwood standing alone. Neither were we meant to go it alone.
God means for you to have support. Join a Fellowship Group where you can be loved. Don't be alone!
QUESTION: What group are you in that helps you experience God's love?
