Yes………I’ve been thinking a lot about EASTER lately as it is coming right up this month. Without it you wouldn't be reading this blog and I wouldn't be writing it! So I prepared an acrostic to share with you some of my musings about Easter.
To start with the E in Easter stands for EVERYBODY!
That might sound like a given but hear me out..........time for true confession here! Has anyone else but me ever had a ‘them and us’ attitude towards unbelievers? This is embarrassing but in my early Christian life it was like I had a phobia of anyone who wasn’t a christian and I even treated them different………almost condescendingly……holding them at arms length for fear of contamination or something. (blush) I thought that anyone who wasn’t a Christian and didn’t go to church would know nothing about Jesus nor have any interest in Him whatsoever. Actually I thought I was special to God because I loved Jesus but that God would only love others when they confessed their sins and accepted Him as Saviour.
Over the years my thinking changed and the phobia left me. I now experience an equality with everyone in the sense that I know God loves each of us the same. No conditions - like if you accept Christ He will love you more. Oh, I know that He doesn’t want anyone to perish but all to trust in Him but it doesn’t change His love for them if they don't.
Well, there you have it! My nasty little secret is out! PLEASE don't judge me! It's embarrassing enough but honestly how could I have missed that? (Well, I think I know how but that's for another post!) John 3:16 was probably the first verse of scripture that I memorized as a child and it distinctly says that God loved the WORLD so much that he gave his one and only Son. SO.......EASTER is for EVERYBODY!
Bet you can't guess what the A in Easter stands for..........check back tomorrow and find out!
