I remember when I was a young girl riding the stone boat to the fields to go and pick rocks. They caused problems for the farmers when it came to planting the seeds. The seeder would bounce along spreading its precious seeds on shallow soil and on rocks where no root could take hold. What a waste! But where the seed fell on good, deep, rich patches of soil it yielded a good crop.
The same is true of us. If we have stoney hearts that do not want to listen to God's word and obey it, we will not yield a harvest of blessing and abundant living, but rather a shallow or even nonexistent fruit bearing life. But if our hearts are pliable in the Saviors hands, then we will experience seeds of truth falling on us and bearing the fruit of righteousness.
