We cannot be with you all at this time to celebrate our dear Mom's life but thank you for letting us share a few words about her in this letter.
When Cathy called to tell us that Mom had gone to be with the Lord my (Judy’s) first feeling was of incredible happiness and joy for her. The picture that immediately came to my mind was my dear little Mom bustling down that street of gold, calling out, "Maurice! I'm here Maurice!" and then I saw her and dad, hand in hand hurrying on together to search out those who have gone on before, not the least of those being our dear brother and sister, George and Sandra along with many others.
These past few days, the cousins have been posting on face book many memories and thoughts about Grandma. It was so easy to see how special she was to each of them. The theme that came through so clearly in their comments was her gentleness and her unconditional love and acceptance of everyone. We can only say wholeheartedly Amen and Amen to this description of her.......not only as a Grandma but as our dear Mom.
Alex and Mom had a special bond as they shared their passion for missions. Her part in taking the gospel of God's love through Christ to the Quechua was invaluable as she made the first few thousand pouches that are being used by those dear folk to put their radios in, protecting them from dust and damage. She will also be rejoicing in seeing many of those dear people whom she had a huge part in reaching for Christ.
Alex is presently in the hospital recovering well from his heart surgery but wants to say how much he will miss Mom and their little chats. She was very much a loving mother to him as well.
We will both miss Mom but look forward to that soon coming day when we will all be together again with Jesus our Saviour.
Please listen to this little poem because it is what we believe Mom would say to all of us here today.......
Today I left my loved ones and as I go I pray,
Lord don’t let them grieve too much, because I’ve died today.
Let there be no wailing echoing the halls,
the same halls that held laughter and answers to my calls.
I pray they all take comfort accepting the True Way
and listen when I tell them these three things today.
Love will be forever, a cover for the past.
So love others more than ever now my time with you has passed.
And last of all remember how rejoicing love will be,
when by faith our eyes meet Jesus’ eyes, for all eternity.
