The way you work isn’t the way I work.”
God’s Decree.
“For as the sky soars high above earth,
so the way I work surpasses the way you work,
and the way I think is beyond the way you think."
ISAIAH 55:8,9 The Message
Like me, have you prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed for someone or something and nothing appears to be changing. Then we just give up..............at least for awhile .........until we exhaust all other avenues of making it happen on our own or the situation becomes unbearable again. Then we're back to praying and praying and praying and praying some more! Then giving up again and resigning ourselves to it never changing.........and then begins the recycling all over again!
'OH GOD!' I have cried out, 'Why can't you just do this one little thing for me. I mean, how hard can this be for YOU? After all, You are all-powerful and created the world by just speaking.........SO You could just do the same in this situation and that person/situation would be transformed instantly into what You and I both know that You want!' Right?
To answer my question, God gives a concise but profound illustration in Isaiah 55, 'For as the sky soars high above the earth, so the way I work surpasses the way you work, and the way I think is beyond the way you think.' Stopped in my tracks, I had to ask myself, 'How far is the sky above the earth? I didn't have to think too long or too hard to come with the answer. Duh! no one knows.............it's immeasurable................to infinity and beyond!
Okay God, point taken! I don't know why things are not changing according to my schedule but I trust Your infinite 'thinking about' the situation and trust that You are 'working on' it as YOU want to work on it for Your good purposes. There ended my 'recycled' prayer............at least in that particular situation...........for the time being!
Hmmmmmm? Just as an after-thought, maybe I wasn't really praying after all.............which would be confidently believing that God is at work regardless of what I see (Hebrews 11:1). Maybe I was just begging, coercing, and trying to bully God by my so-called prayers! OOPS!
How about you? Ever found yourself doing 'recycled' prayers and trying to bully God through them? You can be honest with me...............we've all done it sometime! Leave a comment.....I dare you!
