HOLY SPIRIT POWER!

“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Holy Spirit), that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you, and will be in you.”  John 14:6-7

Our 'Deliciously Satisfying Life' cake is almost finished.  Just 2 more ingredients.  Can't you just smell that tantalizing aroma.  MMMMMMMM!!!!
Okay!  we better get 'stirring'!

My friend Sadie said just the other day, 'Judy!  I made a batch of bran muffins today and guess what I forgot to put in?  The OIL!'
Well, I tried one and, yes, sure enough she forgot the oil.  It tasted good but it was hard chewing!  Without this next ingredient, in our 'Deliciously Satisfying Life' cake our lives will be like that too..........hard chewing!  That ingredient is the the Holy Spirit and funny enough.......the symbol in the bible used for the Holy Spirit is oil!  Through Him, we have the power to do life.

If I try on my own to
'chew' my way (so to speak) through life, handling my 'hurts, habits, and hang-ups' on my own, before long, I will lose steam and find I don't have the power to keep going.  OR I can 'by faith' trust in God's power living in me through the Holy Spirit to handle what I can't.  By God's grace, I can be strong when I'm weak.  (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Remember my 'bum' knee?  If I had not come to the place of seeing my powerlessness over fixing the pain in my knee and had not asked for Lily’s help, I would still be in pain and walking dysfunctionally.........or worse yet, in a wheelchair.  I had to look beyond myself to someone superior in knowledge and expertise in order to get help.

Likewise, if we fail to recognize our powerlessness, w
e will miss out on the benefits of our salvation and the availability of God’s power through the Holy Spirit to help us overcome those things in our lives that are holding us back from being all we can be!

Stay tuned!  Tomorrow we will 'stir' in the last ingredient of our 'Deliciously Satisfying Life" cake!  But for now I have a question for you to answer in the comments below.

How does the Holy Spirit help you?

He encourages me a lot through scriptures and shows me in a real way their vital application to my life, He helps me to trust God when other things fail. He gives me joyful times in praising and worshipping God through songs and harp. And now after some damage done to my roof from last night's storm, He is giving me confidence that all is well, He knew about this beforehand, and help is on the way. I've called the local handyman who will look at it tomorrow but in the end it's God I can trust. He is giving me a greater sense of Him being in control and really truly caring and looking out after me.

The Holy Spirit gives me a check in my spirit when I am thinking of doing something that is not right. Not just something wrong but something out of step with the Holy Spirit's timing. Maybe even something that I want to say to someone and yet there is a check in my spirit not to say it. I am learning to be more obedient but the check is certainly there. I just do not have the wisdom to know what is the right thing to do or say at times and it takes the power of the Holy Spirit to show me.

Love that 'check in the spirit' ...............so good to know God can actually check us like that. He is SO GOOD! Thanks for sharing Christine. We are SO blessed to have the Holy Spirit living in us.
