Today, we are 'stirring' into our recipe for a 'Deliciously Satisfying Life' the ingredient of RIGHT THINKING. Many people don’t know what they believe about God and about themselves. They often say what they don’t mean and mean what they don’t say.
God’s Word is our guide for right thinking. It is truly “a lamp to our feet and a light to our path”. And even though we may know in our heads what it says, we may have trouble experiencing the reality of it in our lives because over the years we have structured so many elaborate defenses to protect ourselves.
When Lily was massaging my leg, she just seemed to know right where to go. She would put some pressure on a spot and state, it hurts here, not asking me but telling me! I would respond with an ‘ouch’ and ‘how did you know’!?!?!
She worked on muscles in my hip and lower leg and upper leg and I thought, “How will this help my knee?” But she explained how these muscles all work together to support the joints and when they were strengthened they would help support my knee.
It reminds me of the verse from Hebrews 4:12-13, “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.” NLT
Because Lily knew the truth, she could get beyond my surface pain and work on the root of the problem. In the same way God’s Truth goes beyond the surface/symptom pain and works on the deeper problem areas in our lives.
2 Timothy 3:16, 17 tells us that God's Word is VERY PROFITABLE in our lives. As God speaks to us through the Scriptures, they will teach us about life, show us where our views are in error, and correct our faulty perceptions so that we continually can experience the process of healing from our 'hurts, habits, and hang-ups'.
QUESTION: How have you been experiencing God's healing power in your life through His Word?
