"For since the world began,
no ear has heard
and no eye has seen a God like you,
who works for those who wait for him!"
Isaiah 64:4
Confession time! I have a LOVE HATE relationship with this verse! The 'love' part is that God works for me........the 'hate' part is........you guessed it..........waaaaaaaaaaaaaiting on Him to work!
Seriously, I have NO patience! Well, that's not totally true............I have been enrolled in the 'School of Patience' for over 40 years and am learning patience through my trials and temptations. (Sound familiar? James 1:2,3). Talk about your slow learner, eh! :)
Yes, I 'love' it when God works and something I've been waaaaaaaaaaaaaiting on for ever is coming up sunshine and roses. Funny thing is that by the time it happens, I'm not so desperate anymore. I'm feeling more grateful! Probably because I gave up 'recycled praying' (see yesterdays devo) and began truly trusting God with the situation.
Do you see a pattern here? I do! I want God to work in a situation so I start whining and wheedling to get Him to do it. Not always, but sometimes, He holds off until I'm quiet and asking politely and with a 'thy will be done' heart.
So, why don't we just get to the polite, trusting piece right away and skip the whining, wheedling part? Then we could get what we want faster! (Just a tad manipulative?) Maybe its because we're still in the 'School of Patience' and graduation isn't until we leave this earth and will see Him face to face! Could be!
Are you still in the 'School of Patience' too? And if so, what keeps you motivated to showing up for class day after day? Share about it in the comment section below.
